I've been out of sorts lately. That is the best way I can describe it. I'm writing this down so that I can look back one day and remember, and hopefully laugh. The last few weeks have been filled with a lot of surgery, sickness, injury, etc for our family. We are usually all pretty healthy, and drama free, and I like it that way. Everyone is ok and we are thankful, but it's been a bit crazy. Kevin is actually limping around with a torn ligament or something, and will see the doctor Monday. We've all had colds. My sis and stepdad had surgery, my grandma has developed Bell's Palsy. Oh, and life with a 3 year old is the most exhausting thing I think I've ever experienced. Thrown into the mix are all the other little kinks in life. There is still a lot of joy to be had in our lives, sometimes you just have to seek a little harder, and you can find it. Thank goodness. So, that is where my mind has been lately. Then we went out of the New Year, with a bang.....
A couple of nights ago Boyd woke about 11 pm, said he didn't feel well, he got a bath, a popsicle and a bedtime story in bed with daddy, and was back in bed by midnight. It actually turned out to be a sweet night, and Kevin and I loved that Boyd needed the extra attention and love.
Last night I was so excited to put Boyd down early. We were sitting in his room, and he vomited all over me and his clean pjs and lovie, the white carpet, etc. It took me a full minute to gather myself and figure out what to do. We were sitting in a pool of it, maybe our worst one yet. I stripped us both down, got us in the shower, threw clothes in the washer, and got the carpet shampooer out. In my frenzy, I shampooed the carpets sans clothing {sorry, but it's the truth}. Boyd was crying that he just wanted to go to bed, and at one point looked at me and said, mommy please put your nite nite dress on.
:)
Wait, it gets better. We finally get to bed, and at 1 am our smoke alarms go off. Not go off like a dead battery, but like there is a fire....get out of your house now. Well, after about 2 minutes they stopped. We checked the attic, outside, etc. We felt like we were fine. An hour later they went off again. Then several more times. We googled and saw that if there is dust, etc this can happen. We vaccummed them out, then one started making a crazy noise. Unplugged it and we were good to go.....at 4 am. This would be ok if Boyd was not an early riser.
Are you still with me?
With that being said, we are hoping for smooth sailing as the New Year begins. We are taking it easy, very easy. I hope you all have a safe and happy New Year's Eve celebration, and that the new year is beautiful, peaceful, happy, and everything you want it to be!
The new year does hold some wonderful news for us, already. We are excited that we will become an aunt and uncle again in this new year. Congratulations to Kevin's sister and her husband, and their daughter in Hawaii. We are so happy for them. We will be blessed with 5 nieces and nephews now.
xo.

Oh Nicolle,
so sorry to read that you are out of sorts.
I hope all in your family are ok.
Bells palsey sure is an unfortunate thing. I hope your Grandma is alright. Jake went to school with a girl who just woke up with it one day, and then one year later it was gone.
Sorry to hear about Boyd getting sick too. That is never fun to deal with at all. And yes it throws me into a bit of a frenzy too.
Hope all is calm tonight at your house.
Get some rest.
Happy New Year my friend.
I've got nothin'....kids throwing up turns me into a psycho.
I'm so sorry Boyd got sick and that you're not feeling quite right. :( I can totally relate to cleaning before you realize you're naked though. Just sayin'! :) I hope 2012 holds many good things for you and your family!
wow, nicolle, 2011 is going out on a seriously low note - you've had a bad run lately for sure, so sorry! the good news, though? 2012 can only get better from here ;-)
Oh dear. That smoke alarm thing happened to us a couple of years ago on the night before Thanksgiving. We had to call the fire dept just to be sure. They told us the same thing and it's been fine since. (but I'm glad your story reminded me to clean it again. It's due!)
Sorry about Boyd's tummy issues. Vomit is so not fun! And I feel your pain about all the family medical stuff. If you've read my blog for one minute, you're familiar with the roller coaster weve been on. And I don't think I've even covered everything happening with my dad. And Jose and the girls have been fighting something since before Christmas. Ugh.
2012 will be a better (at least healthier!) year for us all!
Oh my! I have run around starkers before too, in those very same circumstances!!! Hope there are better days ahead for all!!!
Hugs,
Kris
Oh my goodness! Your 2011 went out with a bang for sure! The nite nite dress part made me just about spit my coffee, it was so dang HILARIOUS!!!! Happy New Year sweet friend....here's to an amazing 2012!
Sorry you had such a rough end to 2011. I hope the start to 2012 is better to you.
Ok, the nite nite dress made me laugh out loud. :o)
Hope Kevin starts feeling better soon and the doctor has some good news for him tomorrow.
Nicolle....oh,what an end! You made it...and now it's a new year. I think there should be a special line of Mother's Day cards for those of us who have cleaned up puke. Your story reminded me of a Christmas we had 3 years ago. Miserable and wonderful (only wonderful to me) because we were at least puking together (story here http://kimtb.wordpress.com/2009/12/28/a-very-special-family-day/) Happy new year!
And I thought I was out of sorts! Geez! I hope you are feeling better today and Boyd is better and Kevin's appointment tomorrow goes well. Hopefully you got the bad stuff out of the way to let in the good stuff coming your way in 2012!
Congratulations to your brother and sister in law! What will the age difference in their two be?
Happy New Year Nicolle!
Goodnees Nicolle!! Many prayers heading your way. I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother.
I hope you all are doing better now and feeling well. we have all had it too. :(
Sometimes you just have to get the carpet clean...whatever it takes. :) It sounds like you guys have had your hand full at night lately, so hopefully tonight is better. I know that you have had a lot going on, so a fresh year sounds like what you need! Good luck to Kevin and I hope it is nothing serious and that he is on the mend soon. When things slow down and Boyd feels better, let's make a date for lunch!
LOL to Julia's comment!!
And one day... a long while from now... you'll be laughing too!!!
(especially at Boyd's request for you to clothe yourself!!!) :D
Happy New Year... things can only go UP!
My goodness, sounds like times are tough for you right now. I'm sorry! We had a run of good luck with little sickness, death or worries and then 2011 was a tough year for us. I'm hoping 2012 is better. I feel sorry for your grandma. I developed Bell's Palsy when I was 36wks pregnant with Ben. It was one of the biggest challenges of my life (I had an extremely severe case). I wrote about it on my blog. I hope things get better soon and everyone is on the mend.
Happy New Year!
Oh noooo! Puking is the worst! Sure hope Boyd is doing better now. And you were able to enjoy a mellow NYE wearing the same outfit all night.
Happy New Year!!!
Oh my goodness. With a start to the new year like that the rest of the year has to be better. Call it what you want - biorhythm - in a funk - whatever it is it will pass. Hoping for brighter days ahead.
Ok...oh my!!!!!!!!
Nothing quite like the middle of the night sickies to make your head spin. We've all been puked (sp?)on, it really does take a moment to gather it all doesn't it? Carpet cleaning in the buff..can't say that has ever happened to me before (knock, knock!)
hoping everyone is mended by now!
here's to a puke free 2012!
have a happy day nicolle
Oh my goodness Nicolle. May God bless your sweet family. Extended family too. You know, God is soooo crazy. He gives us these wonderful seasons of rest where we get to have fun and everything for the most part is fine. But then there are seasons when stuff like what's going on in your life right now happen. Hang in there kiddos. I really hope that Kevin is okay.
