ordinary days

It is cold and wet. We tried to play outside today. We lasted about 15 minutes.

I feel like my sister and I have had 5 gallons of coffee in the last few days, so I'm having my 2nd favorite this afternoon, coke zero, in my mom mug.

These are the best kind of days. When nothing big happens, when Boyd finds a new cartoon that he likes {so I can have 30 minutes alone}, when I get a few minutes to read, and the house stays clean for longer than an hour. Dinner is ready, and I feel a sense of calmness in our day. I'm thankful for that, because most days I look for the calm all day, and never find it. Know what I mean?!

We've been reading a lot, about Clifford.

And dragons and turtles.

And, dinner tonight is my version of lasagna soup, minus the pasta. It's one of our favorites.

Who knew cold, wet leaves could be so fascinating. You know, the whole through the eyes of a child thing. I love it. I have learned so much from my baby boy.

I hope your day was good.

You are cracking me up with the cold! It has been unseasonably warm here-- 55 today!! Glad you guys had a good time outside :)

You know I want that lasagna soup recipe-- looks delicious!

That lasagna soup looks delish! May we have the recipe? Please! I'm kinda begging, just a little bit though. ;)

Here is the recipe. It's so easy. I brown 1 lb of hamburger meat with dried onion, black pepper, italian seasonings. Drain any fat. Add a couple cans of tomato sauce, and a can of diced tomatoes. Simmer about 30 minutes. Add a handful of grated cheddar, about a cup of cottage cheese, and a couple of diced zucchini. Cover and simmer about 30 more minutes. Taste for flavor, you may need more seasoning. enjoy!

Boyd's outfit is great.

Please be COMPLETELY honest with me..does Coke Zero taste just like (as in EXACTLY like) regular Coke?

My day was good. Yours sounded nice too. Yes, seeing the world through the eyes of our youth is a wonderful thing!

Sweet post.
I love finding and being present to enjoy the calm in certain days too.
And any day where I find time to read makes me happy.
Great pictures.
I hope we get some rain too.
We could use a little.
Love your new header.

I will have to try that soup, I love lasagna!

We were bathed and in pajamas by 5:30 tonight. This weather has been gloomy.

Oh the days when the kids can't go outside to play...
You just rocked my world with that soup...I have made lasagna soup before, but the pasta always gets too mushy and then absorbs all of the liquid in the leftovers. Great idea!

We have BOTH those books!
Sounds like a peaceful day at your house. You're right, ordinary days are always nice! Although cold plus rainy = not my favorite kind of day! Your lasagna soup look yummy!

Slowing down and soaking it all in...love that! And leaves are quite fascinating!! Today Aubrey picked up an armful of clean laundry out of the basket and threw it up in the air and said "look mom...a pile of maple leaves!":) leaves...who knew??
have a happy day nicolle

thank you so much, nicolle, for your sweet words ... you are a good friend! i think this wet weather of yours is headed here tomorrow - boo!

btw, we always refer to isabel as clifford b/c she started out so so SO tiny (1.8 pounds ... up to 8+ now!) ... just as long as she doesn't grow as big as big as the real clifford, right?!

It doesn't get much better than simple days and warm soup!!
I am not a fan of cold weather... but I have really been enjoying this cozy gloomy weather for some reason. It just feels "homey"!

Boyd is too cute-- as if you don't know that!! And kuddos to you for even attempting playing outside... even if it didn't last long!
