I think we are itching for fall,
even though this summer has been so much fun.
Yesterday Boyd put on his garden gloves
{thanks meemaw},
and we planted some pumpkin seeds that he got when we were in Austin.
We planted our seeds in a terra cotta pot.
Yes, I know.
We may not see any pumpkins.
Would it be so wrong of me to buy a tiny pumpkin in a few months,
and put it in the pot?
We will see what happens.
Boyd asked me if we could pick a pumpkin in a few days.
I snacked on these yesterday.
I got the idea out of Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
Cucumber slices topped with spicy pimento and cheese.
They were perfect.
I'm also going to top some with chicken salad.
Kevin just left for work,
and I'm drinking coffee.
Boyd is already asking who he can play with today.
That's the usual morning around here.
These are definitely the best ordinary days ever.
I love these days where we wake up and just wing it.
I love these days where we can play with friends,
see family, go see Kevin for lunch, and so on.
It's hard to remember what I ever did with myself 5 years ago,
and I can't imagine what life will be like 5 years from now.
I know these days are so fleeting,
and I'm squeezing the life out of them.
have a good ordinary day.
love,
nicolle

I wanted to die when I walked into Hobby Lobby the other day and saw all of their Halloween stuff out. Fall will be here before we know it. I am not quite ready for it myself but then I am not living in that Texas heat, I don't know how you do it!
Hope today is everything you want it to be!
I love the way you embrace life! You may be surprised with your pumpkin seeds you plant. The green foliage will spill out of the pot and continue to grow, in a vine type of a way. Keep the pot on the ground, and let the foliage grow. The pumpkins will shoot off of the vine. You will get a real pumpkin. Don't fret. And it is fun to let them take a stick or something and scratch their name into the pumpkin when it is still growing. As the pumpkin grows, the names grows that has been scratched onto the outer skin. Have fun. And let me see, I know I have cucumbers.....what can I put on top of them? That looks so refreshing!

You know I'm always itching for fall! :o) I'm trying to enjoy summer though even though it's my least favorite season.
I think pumpkin plants grow pretty quickly so even if they don't produce anything Boyd will have fun watching them grow. I think there'd be nothing wrong with buying some pumpkins to stick in there. :o)
I hope that whatever you decide to do today brings you both happiness :o)
aww we are on the same wave lenght. I was just dreaming of pumpkin everything. Even though I am a beach girl, there is just something about fall that just speaks comfort and warm fuzzys. When I was at Notre Dame, fall was the best season ever.
I see nothing wrong with putting a little pumpkin there for sweet Boyd.
Def gonna try to cucumber slices. I was thinking of tupping them with the hummus I made using your recipe. I made a fresh batch today so we can enjoy it with wine tonight.
my days are ultra boring. I have moved a lot for work and so living in a new town is not new to me. But what is always hard is meeting people and having that human contact. I guess that's what I love about blogging. My days are spent walking my boys while trying not to melt in the heat, staring at my resume, getting depressed and then watching 20 hours of the real housewives. HAHA! But like you I can't really complain, I am so lucky that my husband has a job that can support us both. I've just never been unemployed before so I feel guilty and unable to relax. Whew this is getting long huh? Well have a good weekend!
Most days are extremely ordinary. Sometimes, our blogs just show you a glimpse of the best of us. But I guess that's how reality tv works too when it comes to these crazy celebrities. If they showed us the other 95% that they actually tape, we'd see that their lives are more ordinary that we think. I really hope your pumpkins grow in that pot. Interested to see how they turn out.
I was in Hobby Lobby yesterday...fall stuff everywhere. It did get me excited!
I've been eating lots of cucumber slices...so yummy.
So much fun planting with kids and getting to see new things grow! Those cucumber appetizers look so yummy! I love finding new recipes to try. :-)Everyday is a blessing for sure!!
Have a great evening!
blessings,
Jill
Pumpkin fairy, that is the greatest!!
Ok, after reading your post and Kris' comment...I want Brady to grow a pumpkin too! Boyd's gloves are so cute...I would have thought of him too had I seen them at the store!
And, you're right...ordinary days usually turn out to be the best days of all.
