stuff

good morning.
it's weird that coffee tastes different when there is snow on the ground.
different, as in even better.

it started sleeting around 3 am, hard.
that lasted several hours,
then we woke up to snow on top of that.
but it's way too cold and gusty to go out.
not sure if i will brave it today so boyd can play in it.
i definitely could not live where some of you do!
this is fun for a couple of days,
a couple of times each winter. ha.
i guess this texas girl just prefers it warmer.

boyd last night,
brushing his teeth.
he loves using his new step stool.

have i ever mentioned how much i love his curls,
and fuzzy footed pj's on him,
and his big smile,
and his fiesty nature,
and everything about him!

don't these look good.
i'm crazy about this stuff.
i made breadsticks out of the cauliflower pizza crust, updated recipe here.
these are so good and so healthy.
{original recipe that i used, here}.
i just shaped my crust into a rectangle for the breadsticks.

i made my own marinara sauce.
a can of crushed tomatoes, some italian seasoning,
black pepper and garlic powder and onion powder,
and a dash of artificial sweetener.
simmer for about an hour on the stove.

i finally found the answer to making the crust 100% non-stick.
parchment paper.
thanks to lots of time on the internet,
and several ruined crusts,
i ran across a blogger that uses it.
no sprays or oil needed.
it was a miracle.

tip: for the cauliflower, you don't need a ricer,
you don't have to buy fresh,
and you don't have to cook it first.
you can just thaw a bag of frozen cauliflower,
and chop it very finely with a large knife.
pat it dry with paper towels, the less moisture, the better.
then proceed with the recipe.
one small bag will make 3 crusts.

note: the more you season your breadsticks or crust, the better it will be. i have read some reviews of these that people pinned on pinterest. if you make them and think they are going to taste like bread, then you won't like them. they are just a healthy alternative to breadsticks, and we actually love them. they have a healthy, hearty taste to them. enjoy.

and, stay warm.

I use parchment paper for baking...but never thought to use it for anything else!
We have another snow day today...no shopping for me today.:(
Brady thinks I'm so lucky that schools closed on my big day and I get to hangout with him!
I love footed pj's too...and Boyd's curly hair!

Woohoo you got some snow! :o) Another snow day here...we hardly ever even get 1 full day let alone 2 in a row! Not sure what they'll do tomorrow...suppose to have windchills down in the negative 50s. Can't imagine putting kids on the bus when it's that cold.

Your breadsticks and sauce look really good! I use parchment paper when I bake cookies but never thought about using it for pizza crust. Good tip to remember for the future! Love your blue plate too!

I kind of miss footed pjs. Thinking I'd look a little silly in them now ;o)

Guess no Sprouts for me today, that wind is brutal. Might not brave outside at all.
Stay warm and I love Boyd's curls!

Man that looks so good. I must have missed the blog where you talked about it. :( Can you let me know which blog post it was. I have some cauliflower and really want to try this. :)

They are calling for more snow here in PA. and then maybe a 1/2 inch of ice! That's a lot of ice! Ha! Here's hoping we don't lose power!

I hear you! I don't think I could live where it snows all winter anymore either. I love getting a few big dumps and then it's outta here.

Those pizza sticks look yummy! I wonder if the ballerinas would eat it.

And I agree...your little guy is absolutely adorable w/that curly hair and monkey footies!!

ha, ha, Nicolle. You just might turn into a Cauliflower pizza. I'm the same way. If I find something I like (i.e., a song, food, etc.) I will literally run it into the ground until I hate it.

boyd actually reminds me so much of my older daughter when she was his age - and it's all b/c of those precious curls!! Combined with footie pj's, she was truly scrumptious at his same age!!

we're halfway thru our latest storm (ugh!) right now - had to pick up the kids early from school today and we've been snowed in ever since - tomorrow's a snow day, so no school. The shaq-o-meter is growing with every hour ;-) Luckily, I'm well stocked to make my cauliflower soup ... and I bought extra so I could try your crust, too - wahoooo!! Can't wait!

Our snow is still coming down!
No school again tomorrow.
I am ready for spring!!!:)

Love the curls and the footies! Riley had such curly hair when she was young...I miss it.

Those pizza sticks look so yummy. I still have to pass on the new crust recipe to Dave. Made your lemon cookies today...super yum!!!

Off for some silence, didn't have a BIT of it today!!!
Enjoy the night

Gotta try that crust.

Maybe this next week...I'm starting to plan the menu in my mind.

I like the warmer weather, too. Unless it means a day off of school. In that case call me Polar Dani.
