tuesday

boyd had pictures made at school this morning,
in a cap and gown,
for pre-k graduation.
i can't even go there yet.
moving on.

i had a really lazy morning, and i feel guilty even admitting that.
guilt shouldn't get in the way of some down time, but i always think of everything else i need to be doing,
or the fact that kevin is at work, or so many of my friends are at work.
after about 2 hours of seriously doing nothing,
i decided it was time to get moving.
i made coffee, straightened up the house, pulled weeds, and cooked enchiladas.

our neighbor used to make this dish, and he called it messed up chicken enchiladas.

in large mixing bowl combine...
1 large can of cream of chicken soup, 1 can of chicken {drained}, 2 cans of rotel {not drained},
12 corn tortillas cut in strips, 1-2 cups of shredded cheese, black pepper and minced onion.
spray glass baking dish, add mixture, and bake uncovered for 30 minutes at 350.
serve with salsa and sour cream.

i picked boyd up from school, and he told me that his friend was going to a new indoor trampoline park right down the road. i kind of had a feeling that he got his wires crossed, but it's really cold today, and i thought, why not. usually i want to come straight home after school. i'm a creature of habit.
we went, his friend never showed up, boyd jumped for an hour, and he loved it. boyd made friends with one of the cute teenage girls that worked there, and even though i could tell she was trying to flirt with two teenage boys, she was still really sweet to boyd. i sure was feeling old around them though. heck i feel old just telling that story.

the place is really big, with 7 or 8 different areas, and probably a hundred or more trampolines.
we will go back for sure.
and i will jump with him next time, even if it's full of cute teenagers.

here are a couple of boyd's crafts that he did today at school, for earth day.
i asked him what the hearts were for, and he said,
those are hearts to tell jesus that we love the earth.

then i saw this and that he had written his name backwards and the worrier in me got all anxious.
so we practiced some more when we got home, and all is well.
{although he did spell BYOB, so there's that}.

my happy bowl is currently full of these, to add to my drinking water, and that makes me happy.

that's our day.
ordinary, busy, fun, tiring.
i am not a bragger, at least i hope i never am,
but i think i need to give myself a little more credit for all that i do during the day.
we probably all need to be a little more kind to ourselves.
i will work on that.

love,
nicolle

i too know those feelinds...especially when dave comes home with horror stories of his stressful day, and in my mind i'm like..."mine was kinda chill, we watched max and ruby and played"!:) but goodness we know there are days that are NOT like that and we will get our turn...someday...when we are "working" again...UGH!!:)
so chill on!!

love the tramploine story. and i laughed, i know what you mean about feeling old, janey's teacher is so sweet and has inspired janey so much, she tells her about harry potter all the time and how she was so into it when it came out and she was in fifth grade....WHAT??...i remember reading that to my students when it came out and they were in FIFTH grade!!!:) haha old i tell ya!

have a happy day nicolle

Okay, cap + gowns....don't even get me started. Happy bowl=Yay! And BYOB....funniest thing ever and I love your sense of humor about it. As a former teacher, I don't think you have anything to worry about ;-)

Ok, this post is full of all kinds of happy...love it!
First off....byob...laughing so hard over here!!!
Going to make that encilada mess tis weekend! Thanks for sharing.
I have never heard of a trampoline park...and I want to go!! What a great idea.
And lastly before I rush off to work...I agree, we need to be kinder to ourselves. Most days I think negative thoughts about what I didn't get done, what I shouldn't have eaten, what I could have done better....man, that is awful thinking. I would NEVER talk to others the way I talk to myself. I'm going to work on being kinder to me. Thanks friend!

Whenever I have a lazy morning (which is at least 2 mornings a week), I tell myself that I'm nurturing the introvert inside me (because I am). Enjoy it!

We have one of those trampoline places here. They are FUN, but warning: post-child bladders are not very strong. Do not be alarmed if you make several trips to the restroom. ;)

Happy Wednesday!

Just so you know, I plan on doing nothing for a good solid hour or two today...I have been looking forward to it! And the writing name backward thing is totally normal at his age and even into K. Just one of those things kids do.
We have a trampoline park near is that the kids love going to. I'm thinking it is going to be a great thing this summer!
I love your simple days and I love that coffee.

I have today off and I'm sitting in bed reading blogs and drinking coffee. Next, I will read my book. Maybe then I will do a little straightening up, but I think I need to take the morning off:). Thanks for giving me permission to be kind to myself!
