i always think of my friend jen,
when i light a candle at the end of the night,
and say, the kitchen is closed.
and my other friends that do it, it's like a sisterhood,
silly, but i love it.
and my other friends that do it, it's like a sisterhood,
silly, but i love it.
and although that has nothing to really do with what is on my mind,
i think there is a tie in somewhere.
sometimes i lose my faith and hope in people.
and i say this very tenderly because i know i have disappointed people in my life.
and i know that i am to love everyone, no matter what, but sometimes that is hard.
jesus loves us all, not matter what we've done, and he commands us to do the same,
and as much as i try, that seems impossible at times, and i fail.
i'm still dealing with the dog bite situation,
and it's not a good situation.
and i believe i need to leave it at that, in writing.

and, there is an elderly man in our neighborhood who has lost his little dog.
this man was wandering the streets the other day and i was worried for him,
so i stopped and asked if i could help him, and he told me everything,
and then he let out the most heartwrenching yell, calling for his dog, and he started crying.
and at that moment my heart ripped out of my chest.
and every day since, he's been walking around, or holding up a sign on the busy road leading into our neighborhood, to find his best friend and companion.
and this sweet man is terminally ill.
life is so unfair, in big and small ways.
and i found out today that some sleaze bag called his phone number on the poster,
and said they could find his dog within the hour,
all they needed was his credit card number and $285 from him.
and i wanted to scream.
thank goodness he didn't fall for it.
but you know what, who are these people out there that are creating such scams?!
i do not understand.
it is so easy for us to lose faith in this world.
some days the devil seems to be working overtime.
some days the devil seems to be working overtime.
and the really crazy thing about all of this,
jesus may be disappointed in the liars and the sleaze bags,
but he still LOVES them, with the most crazy and hard to understand unconditional kind of love.
how is that for mind blowing.
and he loves me and you,
no matter what labels we have attached to our names.
that is some amazing grace if i've ever seen it.

for a few hours today, i think i did lose faith in people,
in strangers that i don't even really know.
but something amazing happened, as i was writing out this post,
and jesus spoke some truth to me.

and i'm ready for the kitchen to be closed tonight.

Awwwww. Mt heart is breaking for that man! And it is so hard to remember, but our faith will NEVER be lost with Jesus. It's so hard to remember....why? I get frustrated with myself over this very thing. Thanks for the reminder....Sacred Heart of Jesus, I TRUST YOU!!!!
Whoa, what a week you have had!! :( many hugs for you my friend. Wish I was there for wine, donuts or coffee. You are an amazing person, don't let those who easily fault make you forget that. Many of us would like to be more like you.
I let tears roll for that old man, what a terrible thing. :(
Nicolle, you write in such a honest and profound way, that it touches me deeply. Those people who owe you money, and whose dog bit you, may not ever pay you the money that they owe. But, you are exercising more control and showing your true character by the way you have chosen to react to them. Believe me, I doubt I could be so kind.
As for the man who lost his dog, Oh my gosh, gut wrenching! I hope he finds him!!! So sad! Sometimes, the world can be an ugly place. But luckily, there is far more good! Hang in there!

Oh wow, this all makes me so sad. Sometimes I just can't even think about stuff because it's so heartbreaking. Saying a prayer now that the little dog is found safe and sound b/c I know that (at least) will bring some happiness to the street. Love you dearly, friend! XO!
So struck by what God has given you.
One neighbor, angry and hurtful, over a dog.
The other neighbor, sad and hurting, over a dog.
And YOU. In the midst of it all.
Choose the sad and hurting neighbor, and help him, pray for him, cook him dinner. And offer it all up for the neighbor who is hurting you.
(what helped me in my situation was to pray "forgive them Lord, they know not what they do." It is much easier to show mercy towards someone hurting you when you believe that they are unaware)
It IS hard.
But you can only see a small piece of Gods big picture.
I believe at the end of this mess (because there IS an end) you will have grown in ways unimaginable.
And I will pray for you, of course...
Wow, friend. Lots going on, to say the least.
First of all, the dog lady...
Someone once told me when we were discussing incomprehensible lies, that "we all lie to cover our sin." When I heard that I was reminded of really what sin is, and how hard we work to make it go away on our own rather than to let Jesus deal with it. If she doesn't have Jesus, then that explains what she is doing. You will be fine, she will not tarnish you or who you are. God has protected you through this ordeal and He will continue to.
Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."
As for the old man..
that breaks my heart just hearing the story, so I cannot imagine witnessing his pain. Do you know the parable of the Good Samaritan in the Bible? This reminded me of that...you are the Good Samaritan who stopped and helped. Just being present with him and seeing him helped him. I agree with what Shine said, visit him & check on him. Maybe help him call a few local area pounds to see if the dog has showed up. We have an elderly neighbor and knowing her is such a blessing.
Either way, God has placed you purposefully in that neighborhood. Love and hugs to you!
Gah! You make me remember why I loved blogging... and why I love you. You take bad, and you remind me why I can't fall for it. I know you well enough to know that it is how you get through-- you talk outloud-- and it helps you move forward. But just know that it helps others. Your heart is so good. Even on the days that the devil tries to convince you otherwise.
