cupcake thursday

Boyd and I started out this morning at the indoor bounce house, but the loud music scared him. Even though they were really nice and turned it off when they saw him crying, it was too late. Loud noises have always terrified him. Sometimes I worry if he has something wrong with his ears, or if this is just normal for little kids? We love the bounce house because it's such good exercise for Boyd. I really love it because I get to sit back and relax and let him run wild. Truth, the one thing I don't like is some of the looks from some parents if Boyd bounces too close to another kid, or he passes them on the stairs, etc. I mean this in the nicest way possible. Let them be kids for goodness sakes. They will figure it all out. It is a bounce house after all. Boyd is an energetic boy. He is only 3 years old. He is polite to the other kids. Of course I watch him, and if he is being ugly then I address it. I know my child does things. Ok, moving on. He bounced for about 30 minutes today, then he asked if we could go home. Poor babe. Dang it though. So, we ran to Target for a few things, and cupcakes, then home.

I found this cute card at Target, in the dollar section.

Now we are home. Boyd is watching Nemo. I'm about to drink more coffee, and maybe have a few minutes of quiet time.

have a good day.

oh, the looks of other moms. i have learned to let it roll off because my kids are bound to attract them, even if they are normal (and polite) boys. my oldest is afraid of random things too. movies being too loud, etc. his own shadow, at times. boyd is such a doll! glad you had fun. and i LOVE that card!!!

I have a large group of friends and all of our kids are about the same age... we have said from the beginning, "let them work it out!" Boys are more rowdy-- and girls are more whiney... but they are all just little.

Why do we expect tiny people who have only been on this Earth a very small amount of time to act like a lot of adults, can't??

Especially at a BOUNCE HOUSE for Pete's sake.

>>Off my soap box now...
Love your card! -It has your name written all over it!!!

Enjoy your cupcakes!!

Noah love him a bounce house too! Loud noises always (and often still do) bother me, to this day the public restroom flushing does it HAVE to be SO loud? Ouch!! But I have had ear problems since I was born. Cupcakes & coffee makes for a good day :)

OMGoodness...I so LOVE that you say, "...being ugly." I say that all the time (and, "He's a mess.") It's a southern thing, so many people around here don't get it. :)

It's after 4PM here, so you can have another cup of coffee!

Neat picture of your green coffe mug Nicolle. Love it.

My sister was always afraid of loud noises when she was little.

Enjoy your quiet time. I'm off to do the same!

perfect card, nicolle, love it :)

as for the noises, we should have an email exchange if you want someone to commiserate with, my oldest has always had a serious problem where noises are concerned - and she's 13 now! I could talk your ear off ... but the bottom line is that boyd'll be just fine - each kid just comes wired with their own quirks!

Sorry Boyd's play time and your down time got cut short today. That stinks. Hope you were able to make it up while Boyd watched his movie :o)

Very cute card!

I agree Nicolle...let the kids work it out! We were only ever at a bounce house twice for birthday parties...but Brady never really liked them. He always said there were too many kids! I think he was just not very daring...and afraid he might get hurt. (he would have made a fine girl!)
Your green mug is my favorite color of green! Hope you enjoyed your afternoon!

That coffee cup is very similar to my favorite Oprah green coffee cup...so that's sort of making me want a cup...and it's 10 pm...so I guess I have to wait until morning...darn it.

My daughter was like that with the loud noise / music when she was little. She still plugs her ears in movie theaters for the first 30 minutes.

And ditto to Pam's comment.

Great shots, and don't you just love the $1 section at Target, it's perfect!

Oh it's no fun to see your little one scared. I wonder if the aversion to loud is an "only" thing? Mine always had trouble communicating and concentrating at those places ... It was overwhelming compared to her usually quiet home where she could easily get her point across. Becoming best friends with a family with 4 kids solved that problem for her :)

PS. Went to our favorite cupcake place only to find it had closed. I guess we should have gone more often? Living vicariously now through your outings.
