yesterday

Yesterday was a great day. I spent about 6 hours alone. Alone time is good, and necessary. I headed to Central Market after running a few other errands. I am a foodie, and always will be. I love how the employees at CM have Foodie written on their name tags. I think I want to work there, or I could just live there. I shopped for a long time, but only picked up these 3 things.

Texas grapefruit.
Dark chocolate sea salt caramels.
Wild blueberry flax granola.

The caramels are crazy expensive, so I only buy a few at a time. Plus, that is all I need. I ate some of the granola in my vanilla yogurt, and it was delicious. I have a feeling I will be buying this granola often. We haven't tried the grapefruit yet, but it smells really good.

When I get old, will someone please bring me dark chocolate sea salt caramels?

I could not get over the gorgeous sky yesterday. I must have looked at it a hundred times while I was driving around. It was perfect. This sounds silly, but it was so blue and so mesmerizing, I felt like I was looking into the ocean. I wanted to pull over on the side of the highway and just stare at it. God is good, and so beautiful.

Then I picked up a diet coke, went to Half Price Books and bought some magazines, and sat in my car for over an hour. I read, drank my diet coke, and people watched. Does that seem weird? Not to me. Remember, I'm ok with weird. I've embraced it. It was great. Not to mention, I will take some quiet time wherever I can find it. I checked the clock and it was already 4:30 pm, so I decided I should head home to check on my guys. Alone time is good. I think I already said that. Yes, it is very good.

Off to make coffee. Enjoy your day.

Six hours alone sounds wonderful Nicolle...good for you for taking that needed time...and good for your hubby for recognizing that you needed it! The picture of the sky is gorgeous...so BLUE! I am looking forward to some alone time tomorrow. Brady was off school 2 days last week and had a 3 day weekend and he's on cold medicine that I think makes him a little loopy...and he's driving me bonkers!! It's gonna be a long day!

Sounds like a wonderful day! :o)

I love your sky picture! I'm a sky watcher too. I can't believe how often I'll say something like - the sky was so pretty this morning - to my coworkers and they'll say, oh really? I didn't notice. How do you not notice the sky?!?

I don't think it's weird that you sat in your car and read/people watched. I like to people watch too. Well, maybe that just means I'm weird too ;o)

Hope you have a good day!!

Nice!! When I was a young Mom, with two little girls, and NO money, I would look so forward to when the Sunday paper came, and I would take it with me into the bathroom, have a long cup of coffee, and read the paper!! Sometimes, I escaped to the library! Or the park. You are not weird....quite normal! Hey, the granola...did you make it? I will try to give you my best guess at how much of each thing I used was.

Okay this is approx. use about 6 cups of whole oats and then add in heat ever type of nuts you like. I use about a cup and half of each, almonds and pecans...chopped. About a half cup dark brown sugar, half cup veg oil, a couple generous teaspoons vanilla, sprinkle in some cinnamon, give it all a good mix and then spread out onto two deep sided cookie sheets. Bake in a 225 degree oven for a good hour or so. You need to take a spatula and turn the granola several times while baking so it toasts evenly. Every 15 min or so. Sometimes I add coconut, and in the fall I like to add pumpkin seeds or sunflower seeds. After cooking you can add dried fruits like raisins or cranberries. Also mini choc chips and stuff too.

Good for you!!
We all can use a break like that!!

The sky was gorgeous-- I didn't get to experience it because these beautiful January days do a number on my allergies- but you captured it perfectly in your picture!

I giggle at you calling yourself "weird"... mainly because I am too-- and also because your grandma hates the word!! ;)

Oh oh..uh oh...when I was in the shower, I remembered I added 1/2 cut wheat germ to the granola too!!!!

What does the CM brown bag have printed on it?

Not weird, sounds great actually! Good for you! Is the granola good? Sounds dee-lish! CM sounds much like Whole Foods (whole paycheck) here, kinda overwhelming, I too want to live there...that I think might be weird tho lol

I love, love, love those little cloud puffs! They are always so white. My favorite kind of sky, for sure.

Those caramels sound sooooo amazing!

Dreamy day. Glad you snuck out. I wish I would have noticed that sky. God must have been whispering just to you.

Hi Nicolle!
Glad you got some time to yourself.
Not weird at all. I love to do just that. I have this book called "I was a really great mom before I had kids", and it has all of these funny confessions from moms. I pick it up from time to time and it always makes me laugh. One of the confessions said, Sometimes I tell my husband and kids I am going to the gym alone, and really I get drive thru and trash magazines and sit in a parking lot alone for an hour." So funny. We all need that.

Love me some Central Market! There are a couple in Dallas/Plano. We are a lot closer to Whole Foods. And a Trader Joe's is opening soon, woo to the hoo!!! My boys love to buy fruit and veggies at CM because they can punch in the code and print out the labels for them. I thought the sky was extra gorgeous on Monday.
