thursday

tuesday morning boyd woke up,
we read him the note that the tooth fairy left,
i took him out for a donut,
and we went to the mattel toy store outlet for boyd to pick out an angry birds toy.
{he kept calling it the matilda toy store outlet, and i didn't correct him, because it made me smile}.
i think he's hopeful that anytime he loses another tooth, there will be donuts and toys involved.
i told him no, the first one was special.

wednesday he went back to school after having 2 days off as a holiday.
he came home with another bad note for talking.
in all honesty, i'm ok that he's a talker, he's very energetic about life,
he wants to share everything with everyone, all the time, all day long.
but i also understand that it's disruptive, so we're working on teaching him the proper time and place.
i grounded him from playing outside and took away his new angry birds toy.
i'm not great with follow through, but i did it this time.
instead we stayed inside, got the markers out, and boyd drew our family portrait.
of course i loved it, so i bought a frame for it today, and hung it in the kitchen.

today was picture day at school.
boyd already smiles differently because of his lost tooth.
i am digging it.

i think it's finally cool enough here in texas to buy mums, so i bought one today.
i debated on maroon or this orange color, but i chose this one to sort of match the pumpkin.
i could take a hundred pictures of the flowers, but i'll just leave it at three.
fall is my favorite.

as i'm typing this, i can hear kevin reading a book to boyd for bedtime.
he is such a good daddy, with much more patience than i have, by this time of night.
some days i practically fall to my knees and ask the lord for more patience and grace.
i have a long way to go, but i hope that the lord hears that specific prayer of mine.
i'm in trouble if i've already run out, and some days i feel like i'm on empty.
the biggest blessing is waking up to a new day, with a full tank.

have a good night.

love,
nicolle

Oh gosh, I am so behind with all of my favorite blogs! Sweet Boyd....love his smile with that "toof" gone. Love that you went to Grandma's to help. And she made you comfort food. Tomatoes were used in everything when you grew them. But I have never made them this way from canned. Looked good!!!
Love the mums. I haven't bought any yet. I too, think it is cool enough.
I love your honest posts. You always keep it real!
Love ya,
Kris

I went with orange mums this year, too. :) And, I'm right there with you on patience, Mama. I pray about it daily. XO!

Sounds like Boyd would get along well with my daughter. There are days where she doesn't stop talking and has that same high energy for life. At the end of the night all I can do is ask the Lord for renewed strength. At school she gets in trouble for talking and it can be a lesson in frustration to get her to understand. Hope you have a great weekend!

LOVE the family portrait. That is awesome! I have one framed that Paige did when she was little too. So sweet.
Love your mums too. Ours are in full bloom here and they make me smile every time I pull in the driveway! Have a wonderful weekend!

Aww..I love Boyd's family drawing.

Your mums are pretty. Mine didn't last long as I forgot to water them. Oops.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

Boy do I hear you on being thankful that most days we wake up with a fuller tank than we ended the night with. My patience has been running very low. It is hard. Life is so busy.

I love that fam portrait that Boyd drew!!! And I love even more that you framed it. That is the cutest thing. I think I'll ask both my girls to draw our family portraits and see what they each come up with. SO cute.

Love Boyd's new smile too. How fun to take him out and enjoy a special treat and toy for that first tooth. Making memories. :)
