i've got to wrap up this crazy last week.
we don't normally have this much celebration for boyd's birthday, it just happened that way this year.
next year will be SIMPLE. for sure.
we celebrated boyd's birthday, my mom's and family friend jane, on sunday,
at texas motor speedway campground, since we are set up there for the upcoming races.
we don't go big for birthdays for the adults in our family, but i feel like my mom kind of got the shaft, having boyd born 2 days before her birthday. but, she always says he was her birthday present.

boyd had a race car pinata, a cute race car cake made by his grandma, and race cars as party favors.
his cousins were there, and although he wanted to lay down a lot and rest, he did have spurts of energy,
so all in all it was a good day.
at one point on sunday though, he said to me, mom will you open my presents for me, and then he asked if he could go lay down.
poor guy has been hanging onto this virus for a week now, but when i finally went with my gut and stopped all the medicines, he started to get well. kind of crazy. i'm forever grateful that my sister was in town to help me out, and to hang out with. i'm just glad he's on the mend because it's been an awfully long week, and kind of a heartbreak to his mama to see him so sick on his birthday.
and i wanted to take a special picture of him on his birthday, and that never happened.
anyway, here are pictures from our big family celebration on sunday. enjoy.

since easter usually falls around boyd's birthday, cascarones {confetti eggs},
have become a tradition at his party.
the pinata was fun, and i like that it had pull strings,
instead of the kids whacking each other with a bat.

our family is blended and seems to be ever changing and doesn't quite look like i pictured it 10 years ago,
but i'm thankful and we are blessed in many ways, big and small.

so hard to believe.

Oh my gosh, poor Boyd! He really had a bad bug! But it looked like he did get to have some birthday fun too! Happy Sixth Boyd!! Doesn't time fly?!

First off, I am soooo behind. ;) (Last week was Spring Break for us, so I tried to avoid the PC as much as possible.) Boyd really had a bug, huh!? Glad he could still have some fun, tho. LOVE the cake!
