food trucks with my mama

My mom came into town today, we dropped Boyd off at school, did a little bit of shopping, then she treated me to lunch at the Fort Worth Food Truck park. We have a lot of similar tastes in food, and I am glad that she will try new things with me. 

And the weather was absolutely perfect.

First we split the spicy asian flatbread, from Good Karma Kitchen.

Mama mia, it was amazing. We were on fire, the sauce was so hot, but it was so good. 

My mom and I are both huge cilantro fans, and this reminded us of a Thai pizza we once made. I will for sure be going back to have this again. Out of this world yummy. The girls running this truck were so friendly too. Loved everything about this truck.

Next we split a grilled muenster and macaroni and cheese sandwich, from Lee's Grilled Cheese.

I've been wanting to try this sandwich since I first heard about it. 

I think they might serve these in heaven.

Gooey and different and delicious.

It was the best day to be outside.

Of course, I love spending time with Boyd, but now when I do have time away from him, I think I enjoy the quiet and my surroundings more than I ever have. 

We ended our lunch with cupcakes. My mom had coconut and I had peppermint chocolate. 

We took a quick picture with my phone, as we were leaving. 

Are you full yet? 

I thought we were, but as we were headed home, we saw another food truck that I had been trying to locate, Tacos El Barrio. I wanted to try their elote. 

Corn, fresh cream, lime juice, cotija cheese, hot sauce. 

What can I say, it was delicious, but we were only able to eat a few bites each at this point.

I'm glad we stopped though.

that was an embarrassment of food, but we loved it all.

today is my favorite day.

thankful for:

1. bicycle rides.

2. school crafts.

3. cute cups and $1.65 peppermint mocha lattes.

4. good days.

5. mamas.

Boyd and I are going to take a nice long bike ride now. Then we plan on laying low for a couple of days, relaxing, cleaning house, reading Christmas books, {eating light}, spending time with Kevin, and enjoying the weather, before it turns really cold and wet on Monday.

thursday {field day and food trucks}

Boyd had field day at school today.

I thought he looked so handsome in his new sporty black top,

this morning.

The sun was in his eyes, and he wasn't really thrilled with getting any pictures taken.

And bless his heart, I say, smile Boyd,

and I get this...

cheeeeayyyyyyyeeesssseee.

I love his chin dimple.

I'm sure I'll say that a hundred more times.

I dropped Boyd off at school,

and didn't come back home, 

like I have been doing. 

I'm just kind of getting my groove with school,

and figuring out what I should be doing with my 10 hours a week,
besides cleaning and errands.

Today I punched in an address downtown on my GPS,

and went to find a taco truck I had just read about,
called Taco Heads.

{I love food trucks}.

 I had chorizo, potatoes, egg and cheese,

with some pico and creamy salsa on my taco.

It was delicious.

The weather was nice, and it was worth the trip.

Downtown Fort Worth is so beautiful.

I came home to do a couple of things,

then headed back to school,

to take a few field day pictures.
How cute is this little group?!

I guess field day for 4 years olds is more like,
run around and play for a while.
It was fun to watch, and when I went back at the end of the day to pick Boyd up,
he thanked me for coming to his school today to see him.
Sweet boy.

Boyd has been talking about his little friend Brayden at school.
I asked him today who Brayden was, and he said, the boy with the piggie shirt on.
We found him.

Sometimes it's still hard to believe, 

4 1/2 years later,
that we have a little boy, who is in school, and having field day, and hanging out with his classmates, and writing his letters, and spelling his name.
I love it all.

My happiest moment from today...
Boyd picked a flower for me during field day, and ran over to bring it to me.

cupcake thursday {and food trucks}

I'm a foodie.

A lover of food trucks, the flavors of my city, and especially cupcakes. Today Boyd and I went to the newly opened Fort Worth food park.

We had our cupcakes first, because that's what we do.
{Red Jett Sweets was on Cupcake Wars}.
The cupcakes were delicious.
Boyd had chocolate with vanilla frosting, and I had maple bacon.
Maple icing, maple cake, bits of real bacon mixed in.
I love to try new/different things.
I was in love.

For lunch I ordered a torta. It was so good. I could only eat about 1/3 of it though. The older I get, the less I can eat, and I haven't lost a pound. Funny how that works.



Boyd had a couple of pieces of his cheese pizza. They gave it to us for free because they weren't ready when we got there. I tried to pay, but the man insisted that we take it. So nice.

By the time we left, this place was crazy busy.
We played outside for a couple of hours, to burn off all those calories.
It was a good day with my baby boy.


I think he's done with pictures at this point.
As for me, there is no such thing as too many pictures.
