more football

i realize that by the end of this first football season for boyd,
i am going to have a million pictures.
football is intense, and the schedule is crazy,
but so far so good, and we are all loving it.
it's pretty much football, football, football around here.
football practice 4 times a week.
{first game is this saturday}.
football on tv at home.
football cards.
football games on my phone and on the ps3.
football in the street.
football at recess.
high school football.
football.
football.
football.

boyd and i went to watch a high school game a couple of weeks ago.
it was a great game. it was intense. i was yelling. i loved it.
boyd loved it, but mainly he wanted a drink from the concussion stand, and to find his friends.
hopefully we will get to go to a few more of these games before the season is over.

 at home.
being boyd.

 practice.
it's so good for boyd.
and it's wearing his butt out.
i take him, and kevin comes as soon as he can, from work.
let me tell you, boyd lights up like crazy when he sees his daddy.
the coaches yell at these boys, and also high five them and show a lot of compassion.
it think this is so good for boyd.
and at first i thought i'd be all mama bear, like, don't yell at my kid that way,
but it doesn't bother me.
it's football.

i have to admit, i do love me some football pictures.

i love watching boyd help his teammates up when they fall to the ground.

i hate that one of his teammates broke his leg, the second night of practice.

the other night one of the coaches asked the kids,
who is in charge of this team?!
and a little guy said, deez nuts!
he had to run 10 laps.
i told boyd he better not say anything like that {at practice, at least}.
and me and some of the other parents had to turn our backs, we were laughing so hard.

my mom and i spent a day together, recently.
we explored some parts of fort worth that we'd never been to,
ate breakfast at one of our favorite places,
discovered the cutest paleteria, where we had elote and paletas,
and got into a little trouble, going into what we thought was a religious store,
but it turned out to be more like santeria/occult/witchcraft stuff.
my mom is tough.
i got spooked and grabbed her and made a run for it.
we laughed and laughed about it.
i had no idea those places were around here.
we got some fun pictures from the day.
fort worth is an amazing city. i love it dearly.

and,
a day spent with one of my oldest and dearest friends, and my birthday twin.
i drove out to see her new, beautiful condo, she treated me to lunch,
and we talked the afternoon away.
it was bliss.
love you jodi.

always when i write down what we've been doing,
there are a million other behind the scenes things.
things i can't remember, things i don't want to remember,
things i want to write down but don't ever get to,
things that aren't write down things,
and things i want to cherish forever.

 back to some football.

love,
nicolle
