hello dear.

i didn't think that kevin read my blog much anymore,
heck no one really does...
but he told me the other day that he checks in,
and that made me smile.
so i'll post this for him, and for my memories.

boyd's 2nd season of baseball is now officially over.
his team really fought for it, but they lost the first game of their tournament last night.
it has been a fun season, a hard season, a fast season.
boyd's team had one win, one tie, many losses.
and i said this last season, but they sure did improve as time went on,
but unfortunately, there is no more time left to win.
and even though it's not all about the wins, it kind of is.
{yes dear, you've rubbed off on me}.
i want boyd to know the feeling of winning and losing,
but you DO play to win, and as he gets older, that becomes the focus.
it feels good to win.
of course, there's also the in between of do your best always.
i want boyd to know about winning without too much pride,
and about losing without too much heartbreak.
{and hopefully he learns not to throw his bat, and get benched}.

boyd's hat will be getting a good wash soon.
he loves it dirty, and refuses to let me wash the sweat out of it.

we went to watch our friend parker play ball one day.
they have an amazing team. we loved watching him, and hanging out.
boyd hung around in the dugout, while i sat on the bleachers with whit,
and i got a glimpse of him all grown up, and not needing me as much.
that feels good, and it feels weird at the same time.

it feels like we've been on storm watch the last few weeks,
and i've been obsessed with the clouds.

we drove through an exceptionally crazy storm a few weeks ago,
and my poor child drew this afterwards.
he dated it, drew a tornado, and wrote...
a bad!!! storm.

and for every scary storm, god gives us a beautiful painting like this one.

i love this note that boyd wrote us the other day.
your the best mom and dad.
although we had a grammar lesson afterwards.
i'm a stickler for your/you're, to/too, their/there/they're.

and this sweet note, inviting me to lunch.

we have a new neighbor who has really done some beautiful yard work.
she has inspired me to do more and plant more, although most of mine are in containers.
i find myself at the plant nursery often, lately.

we went to a dirt track race, that was really a mud track race.
the trucks were flying through the air, and rolling over, and wrecking,
and it was a blast.

i've had a few good dates with girlfriends,
including a last minute i need wine and conversation and come on over.
and i loved every minute of them all.

boyd and i chased down this ice cream man recently.
i adore everything about this ice cream man and his bicycle cart.
boyd had a snowcone, and i had chicharrones.
i mean, does it get any better than that?!

and, mother's day was good.
i spent time with boyd, and we spent time with our mamas.

that's all for now.
hope you are well.

love,
nicolle

Hi! I have had to search for your blog since you don't have google connect, etc it doesn't come up in my blogger feed. :-( I love this post and Boyd is growing up so fast! Love his little notes and that great big smile! Those storms must be scary... my husband and my dad like to sit and watch them. Crazy, I hide inside and avoid the windows, lol. My mom was actually hit by lightning and knocked off her feet years ago when standing in front of the window. Luckily she wasn't seriously injured! I have missed your posts! Hope all is well, I'm back to blogging a lot more now :-) Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,
Jill
