how are you?
it's been a while.
i guess that santa still reads my blog,
because i said i would love to have a cookie scoop,
and he put three of them in my stocking.
thank you santa.
i love you.

i can hardly stand how much boyd is growing,
and that he will be 7 soon.
7 just sounds so grown up to me.
i mean, look at those big boy teeth.
he brought this paper home from school the other day.
the other side says, look on back if lost.
we laughed and laughed.
my mom and i made homemade egg rolls and spring rolls.
they were scrumptious.
they are still scrumptious, because we froze a bunch of them too.
they are still scrumptious, because we froze a bunch of them too.
boyd started basketball.
he is loving it, a lot.
i really wasn't sure how it would go, he's playing with the ymca,
and it's seriously the funniest/cutest thing ever.
some of those kids hold onto that ball and run the entire length of the court,
no dribbling.
they are learning though.
boyd's pre-school friend ethan invited him to play recently,
and this just might be the highlight of boyd's month.
{along with getting to see parker and cooper, who we see every chance we can get,
and we never seem to get enough chances. we love them so}.
i didn't get a picture, as i dropped boyd off quickly, and he and ethan were too busy running around,
hugging and just being so happy to see each other.
it just sort of hit me how i've got to help nurture boyd's friendships at this age,
and i must be more intentional about it.
he's got a handful of the very best friends a kid could have.
thank you ethan! boyd loved hanging out with you.
this past week i met my childhood friend shelley,
for our monthly lunch date.
i ran by and had a cappuccino before i met up with her,
i splurged on caffeine,
and it sure was good.
after lunch we tried a new(ish) ice cream place.
i had the coffee ice cream. surprise. i loved it.
and i loved my time with you shelley. thank you.
as i was driving home from my lunch date with shelley,
i took my favorite route.
boyd had a boosterthon fun run at school recently.
he ran his heart out, completing at least 42 laps.
his goal was 35 laps.
we were so proud of him.
we just helped celebrate kevin's mom's birthday {and a big bonus, got to see kevin's dad},
my dear beloved grandma just had a birthday,
and boyd's cousin cale jean turned 7 this week.
i love birthdays so much!
have i mentioned my love for sushi lately?
yes, I have, but still. look at this beauty.
boyd drew this in art class the other day.
when i picked him up from school, he pulled it out of his sock, and gave it to me.
little tiny things like this make parenting so awesome.
some serious talk between boyd and his buddy,
last night at basketball practice.
well, 15 pictures can't possibly sum up our last month,
but that's what I've got.
even though life is always about the hustle and bustle...
constant trips to the store, cooking, cleaning, homework, taxi driving, nose blowing,
hard things like scary health news for a friend's mama,
and remembering my daddy on his 16th anniversary in heaven,
i'm trying to savor all of the good in each day.
boyd would tell you, it's a good life...

Good "stuff" Nicolle. I love that you have a standing date with your friend (me and my bffs should do that!). Boyd playing for the Y brought back memories of when my son played for them a few years back -- too cute!! Your pics always make me hungry!!
Loved the catch up!
Gosh, I always have so much to say after reading your posts...it kind of feels like I'm reading a letter you sent to me! I know, I'm weird...it's ok...
I love Boyd. You document and tell the best stories about him and his heart. He is a neat kid for sure!
We are in the throws of basketball here...I just love that sport! And you're right...little boys and basketball are the cutest thing. Lots of traveling going on...and I bet there are a lot of "jump" balls being called too. Even on the 6th grade team they do that so much. They put the ball right to their waist and someone grabs it! Still fun to watch. I love the big moose on the gym wall!
I love egg rolls but have never attempted to make them. Are they hard/time consuming? I'd love to try.
Enjoy your weekend!
42 laps? Go Boyd! Tell him I would drop after 10!
Great month!
They are growing soooo fast! Those teeth. Those feet. Love it!
I love that you got three scoops and that Boyd is growing in to such a handsome boy with a beautiful smile. The big kid teeth really have a way of aging them, don't they? Yes, life is crazy and full but it's always so good to catch up with friends! That reminds me...we need to reschedule our coffee date!
